Sounds of Music!

The sound of my tinnitus - Signal

Over the next few weeks, we will consider sound. We have looked at this topic before in science and with the music teacher, but we will extend it a little to consider

How drums make sounds                                                                                                             How woodwind instruments make sounds                                                                              How string instruments make sounds                                                                                        How brass instruments make sounds

This week, we will remind ourselves: What is sound? watch the video clip below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/music–science-ks2-what-is-sound/zbnmhbk

Activity:

  1. Experiment with making sounds using just your own bodies and voices.
  2. Sound needs a medium to travel through, for example, water. Have you ever tried to talk underwater? What other mediums can you list that sound can travel through?
  3. Find two pencils of different lengths. Knock them against a table, what do you notice?
